Mark MacDonald
Called to the Ontario bar in 2002, Mark MacDonald chose to build a small practice on purpose — so every client gets the attention they deserve. As Stuart McLean once wrote, “We may not be big, but we’re small.”

Mark has practised in Smiths Falls since 2002 — first under the mentorship of the late, great Jack Kirkland, a legend of small-town lawyering, and then on his own as MacDonald Law Office. He helps people buy and sell homes, defends people facing criminal charges, and prepares wills and powers of attorney. It's a general practice in the best sense — a lawyer you can call about the things that actually come up in life.
The practice is small by design. For criminal defence and wills, Mark handles your file personally — when you hire him, you get him. For real estate, he works with an experienced team of staff who help move your transaction through smoothly. Either way, you always know who's working on your file.
His practice spans all areas of criminal defence, as well as residential real estate transactions, wills, and powers of attorney. Mark is a member of the Legal Aid Ontario Extremely Serious Matters Panel.
